When planning a wedding, choosing a honeymoon destination is one of the most exciting decisions—and Sunset Sound Events’ own DJ Chris discovered a hidden gem well worth considering: Exuma, a small island chain in the Bahamas, renowned for its vibrant, almost surreal shades of blue.
Before marrying his wife Amber, the couple visited Nassau and instantly fell in love with the crystal-clear water. At the time, they passed on a short recommended trip to Exuma. But once they returned home and learned more about the island’s charms, they realized they had missed out on the uniquely intimate, small-island vibe Exuma offers. So they planned a trip back to the Bahamas specifically to experience Exuma’s paradise—pristine beaches, tucked-away coves, and water so brilliantly blue it truly feels like stepping into another world.
During their stay, DJ Chris and Amber found what they called a true “get back to us” moment. Exuma runs on genuine island time—slow, peaceful, and wonderfully laid back. They spent their days snorkeling through blue waters, chatting with locals, exploring the island, and ending each evening cooking dinner together while watching unforgettable sunsets.
Exuma offers no shortage of must-do experiences. One of the most famous excursions is swimming with the iconic Exuma pigs. You can also visit Staniel Cay, where you can swim with sharks and explore the Staniel Cay Yacht Club—featured in music videos such as Kesha & Pitbull’s “Timber” and Brett Eldredge’s “Beat of the Music.” Another highlight is Thunderball Grotto, the filming location for the 1965 James Bond movie Thunderball, where snorkeling among tropical fish feels like entering a natural cathedral of light and color.
One of DJ Chris’s favorite sights, though, is the Exuma sandbar. These stunning, temporary strips of pure white sand emerge at low tide from unbelievably turquoise, shallow waters. They create a dreamlike setting for wading, exploring, and taking in breathtaking scenery. Famous sandbar locations like Man-O-War Cay and Pipe Creek are among the most remarkable in the Bahamas.
After their first trip to Exuma, DJ Chris and Amber couldn’t stop reliving the moments they shared on this unforgettable island. Their connection to Exuma grew so strong that they decided to return for their biggest moment yet—getting married on the island on July 1, 2025.
They both share a deep love for this tropical paradise and would be thrilled to share more about why Exuma might just be the perfect honeymoon destination for you, too.
